"I aim to create a safe and comfortable environment in which you can speak freely, without fear of being judged" -Joe
Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, boundaries, or communication skills? Has an affair or substance abuse broken your trust in your partner or spouse? These challenges can be difficult to navigate on your own which is why counseling can be a good place to learn more about yourself and your relationship.
Welcome! My name is Joe and I’ve been a therapist for over six years. I have extensive experience in working with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, parenting problems, substance abuse, trauma, and self-esteem. I also work with couples on rekindling their relationships, finding new ways to connect, understanding each other better, and finding ways to share their opinions in a productive manner.
Starting out in therapy can be difficult and I understand that. I view therapy as a collaborative approach in which I offer support along your journey to optimal well being. My counseling style is warm, directive, and collaborative. I aim to create a safe and comfortable environment in which you can feel safe to speak freely, without being judged. I believe in treating you with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, regardless of what you are seeking counseling for. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, Gottman Method, DBT, and emotional-focused counseling. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Your feedback during the therapeutic process is welcomed and encouraged and helps me to meet your needs as best as possible.
It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to help you make steps towards the change you want in your life and to support you in those decisions.
I look forward to working with you!
Anxiety & Trauma Specialization
Trauma and the destabilizing events of our lives can impact our ability to grow no matter when or how they happen. We can find ourselves in harmful or unmanageable cycles that persist. Using a trauma informed lens, I offer concrete tools for growth for those experiencing acute symptoms. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.
Relationship Issues Specialization
As a Certified Gottman Couples Therapist, I work with couples to help them understand how one another’s perspectives, beliefs and life history play roles in the current relationship and assist them in finding a balance that creates harmony. Throughout our work together, I will provide you with skills to improve your relationship.
Addiction Specialization
Over the years, I have worked with individuals that have endured difficulties with alcohol and substance abuse as a Certified Master Addiction Counselor. I have extensive experience in treating substance abuse both in terms of abstinence from drugs/alcohol and in harm-reduction/moderation techniques, when appropriate.
